Alagang OWWA Botika Powered by VidaCure Pharmacy Launches in Tuguegarao, Region II

The Alagang OWWA Botika, powered by VidaCure Pharmacy, officially opened in Region II (Cagayan Valley) through a meaningful rollout held in Tuguegarao City on January 19–20, 2026, marking another milestone in the government’s commitment to delivering accessible, affordable, and compassionate healthcare to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families.

A total of 128 attendees were served over two days, with 98 newly registered members, 69 GAMOT applications, and 30 YAKAP enrollees, reflecting strong engagement and successful service delivery.

A Landmark Event for OFWs and Healthcare Access

The inauguration program began with the arrival and registration of guests, followed by a Thanksgiving Mass and the Ribbon Cutting and Blessing, symbolizing a new chapter of strengthened public service. The ceremony featured the Philippine National Anthem performed by the CSU Balik Tanao Dance Troupe, the OWWA Hymn, and welcome remarks delivered by Ms. Virsie B. Tamayao, Regional Director of OWWA RWO2.

Key messages were delivered by OWWA Administrator Atty. Patricia Yvonne M. Caunan, who emphasized OWWA’s continuing mission to provide responsive and people-centered services to OFWs and their dependents. Hon. Edgar B. Aglipay, Provincial Governor of Cagayan and Chairperson of the Regional Development Council, shared a message of support, highlighting the importance of partnerships between national agencies and local governments. A message was also delivered by DMW Secretary Atty. Hans Leo J. Cacdac, underscoring the government’s unified efforts to protect and uplift Filipino migrant workers.

Launching Alagang OWWA Botika, PhilHealth YAKAP, and GAMOT

A major highlight of the program was the official launch and rollout of Alagang OWWA Botika – PhilHealth YAKAP and OWWA OFW Card, reinforcing the integration of healthcare benefits with welfare services. Powered by VidaCure Pharmacy, the Alagang OWWA Botika enables qualified beneficiaries to access essential medicines through PhilHealth’s YAKAP (Yaman ng Kalusugan Program) and GAMOT (Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment).

Through these programs, eligible members may receive up to ₱20,000 worth of outpatient medicines annually, particularly for common and chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, asthma, and infections. The presence of VidaCure Pharmacy ensures professional pharmacist guidance, proper dispensing, and patient education, making healthcare both accessible and safe.

Gratitude and Commitment to Service

Sincere appreciation is extended to OWWA RWO2, PhilHealth, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), local government partners, and all participating doctors, healthcare workers, and staff who made the launch successful. Special thanks are given to Atty. Patricia Yvonne M. Caunan, Ms. Virsie B. Tamayao, Hon. Edgar B. Aglipay, and Atty. Hans Leo J. Cacdac for their leadership and unwavering support.

The opening of Alagang OWWA Botika powered by VidaCure Pharmacy in Tuguegarao stands as a strong testament to the government’s vision of accessible, inclusive, and compassionate healthcare—ensuring that every OFW and their family truly feels the “Yakap” at “Alaga” ng Serbisyong may Puso.
